The Calgary Flames are in danger of losing seven straight games in regulation for the first time in 15 seasons, but management still believes Bob Hartley is the right man to end that skid and guide the team for years to come. Dean Chance Indians Jersey . Two days after the veteran coach earned a multiyear contract extension, the Flames try again to end their slide Friday night against the visiting Dallas Stars. The 54-year-old Hartley is 71-79-13 since coming to Calgary in 2012, and had the Flames (17-14-2) off to a strong start prior to their six-game skid. However, that didnt stop the organization from extending the contract of Hartley, who won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2001. I firmly believe in the bigger picture, first-year Flames general manager Brad Treliving said. Anybody can swim in the lake when the water is calm. It takes leadership, it takes perseverance when the water gets choppy to see who can steer the boat here. I know weve got the right guy steering the boat. This should send a clear message to our dressing room that Bob is not only the coach for today, but moving forward. The Flames were one of the leagues biggest surprises before being outscored 21-10 in the last six games. Calgary hasnt had a longer losing streak in regulation since dropping eight in a row during the 1998-99 season. Its so easy when youre winning to go out there and make things happen when things are bouncing your way, said center Matt Stajan, who recorded an assist in Tuesdays 5-2 loss to the New York Rangers. The real test is when nothings going your way and youre in a funk like we are. This is where we have to step up. Though the Flames have struggled to score, theyve outshot five of their last six opponents, including 31-23 over the Rangers. Calgary has gone 3 for 22 on the power play in those six games. Internally, weve got to figure out whats going on here and turn it around, defenseman Kris Russell told the Flames official website. It would seem Calgary has a good chance to break out against a Dallas team that allows a league-worst 3.4 goals per game, but the Stars (12-13-5) used a 27-save performance from Kari Lehtonen to win their second straight and third in four games, 2-0 at Vancouver on Wednesday. Dallas had yielded at least five goals seven times over the previous 12 contests. We are taking it one game at a time, but we know we have three left (before) the (Christmas) break. We want to go out on a good note, defenseman Alex Goligoski told the Stars official website. Lehtonen has a 2.03 goals-against average while winning three of four to follow a seven-start stretch where he went 3-2-1 but had a 4.10 GAA. He has a 2.33 GAA during a three-game winning streak against the Flames. Tyler Seguin scored five of his league-leading 23 goals in four straight games before being blanked against the Canucks. He had a career-high four goals with an assist during a 7-3 win at Calgary on Nov. 14 of last year. Calgarys Jiri Hudler has a goal in two straight games and a point in each of the last four but was shut out in two against the Stars last season. Gaylord Perry Indians Jersey . Luis Enrique signed the deal with club president Josep Bartomeu two days after it was announced by the club. That was two days after coach Gerardo Martino stepped down when Barcelona finished its first season without a major trophy in six years. Rocky Colavito Jersey . Kowalczuk has spent four seasons with the Bombers. He spent most of 2013 on the reserve list but playedd in four games. Jose Ramirez Indians Jersey. Lucas is entering his sixth CFL season and third with the Bombers. Dalton redeemed himself after committing a pair of fourth-quarter turnovers that led to 10 straight Baltimore points and gave the Ravens a 24-20 lead with under four minutes left. The Bengals (4-2-1) then survived a near comeback from their division rivals in the final minute to halt a three-game winless streak and move percentage points ahead of Baltimore for first place in the AFC North. The Ravens appeared to have scored a go-ahead 80-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Steve Smith with 32 seconds to go, but Smith was flagged for offensive pass interference and Baltimore (5-3) was ultimately stopped on downs. Baltimore Orioles Pro Shop. Dalton lost a fumble and threw a late interception to help trigger the Ravens comeback from a 17-6 third-quarter deficit, but finished a sharp 21-of-28 for 266 yards. Flacco tossed a pair of third-quarter interceptions that were converted into 10 Cincinnati points, but Lorenzo Taliaferro ran for two touchdowns during a 17-3 swing that sent the Ravens ahead before the deciding drive. Flacco completed just 17-of-34 attempts for 195 yards. ' ' '

TORONTO -- The Toronto Marlies are hoping they learned from last years post-season experience as they enter their second round matchup against the Chicago Wolves on Friday. Jason Williams Jersey . Toronto swept the Rochester Americans in the first round of the 2013 Calder Cup playoffs, had eight days off before the second round, dropped Game 1 against the Grand Rapids Griffins 7-0 at Ricoh Coliseum and eventually lost the series in six games. The Marlies are currently on a six-day break following their first round sweep of the Milwaukee Admirals. "Thats something we didnt do very good last year," said Marlies starter Drew MacIntyre, who posted a .955 save percentage and a 1.55 goals-against average in the first round. "AHL playoffs is frustrating in that sense. You get long layoffs regardless and weve got to do a better job than we did last year." Game 2 of the series goes Saturday before moving to Toronto May 14 for Games 3, 4, and 5 in a 2-3-2 format. Toronto (45-25-6) went 1-1-0 in two meetings against the Midwest Division-winning Wolves (45-21-10) during the regular season. Marlies goaltender Garrett Sparks, who started both games against Chicago during the regular season, grew up less than 18 kilometres from All State Arena, the home of the Wolves. "Theyre very dynamic offensively, but we match up very well against them, our systems are very solid and were going to have to do our best to neutralize them," said Sparks, who is expecting friends and family in attendance at the Chicago games. "If we play our game, ultimately we give ourselves the best chance to win." One benefit of the six-day break for the Marlies is the opportunity for key forwards to get completely healthy. Both Peter Holland (lower body) and Spencer Abbott (shoulder) will make their post-season debut in Game 1. The pair, along with Carter Ashton who missed the first two games of the first round with a knee injury, skated on a line together Wednesday at the teams final practice before leaving Toronto. The additions of Abbott and Holland could make decisions difficult for coach Steve Spott, who will likely have to scratch veterans. "Its going to be tough," said Spott. "Were going to have to make sure that everyone is communicated to, well be honest, well be transparent and those guys will get their chances." Spott is quite familiar with the Chicago Wolves coaching staff as coached Wolves coach John Andersons son, Spencer, during his OHL days in Kitchener. The Marlies coach also played for Wolves assistant coach Dave Allison with the ECHLs Richmond Renegades during the 1990-91 season. "I know its going to be a tough series," said Spott. "Theyre dynamic, their skilled, theyve got a great veteran presence, a goalie I know well in Jake Allen from our World Junior team -- arguably one of the top goalies in the American Hockey League. "Were going to have to be smart, were going to have to be structured in all three zones against this team because if we give up odd-man rushes and we take poor penalties theyre going to capitalize." Allen, who won the leagues top goaltender award during the regular season, is 3-2-0 in five starts this post-season. He has a 2.85 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage. Wolves forward Dmitrij Jaskin is the AHLs leading scorer after the first round with two goals and five assists in five games. Defenceman Brent Regner added six points in the five games to lead all Chicago blue-liners Marlies Jerry DAmigo is tied for second in league scoring with six points in three games while captain Trevor Smith had five assists in the Milwaukee series. "Theyre a veteran team, they have a lot of good guys," said DAmigo, "but were a strong team too so were going to do our home work on them, we have these past few days and were going to be ready to play on Friday." The Vancouver Canucks will be tasked with slowing him down when they host the Flyers Monday night. The red-hot winger looks to extend his goal-scoring streak to four straight games on Monday night when the Flyers resume their road trip against the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks played for the first time in a week on Sunday night in Calgary and did so without No. 1 netminder Roberto Luongo due to a lower-body injury that has him day-to-day. Vancouver didnt miss a beat with backup Eddie Lack in net as the rookie posted his second career shutout with an 18-save effort in the 2-0 win. Jannik Hansen and Mike Santorelli each scored a goal for the Canucks, who have won three in a row and are 10-1-1 overall in December. "I thought we played in the areas and we played hard. Im very happy we found a way to get it done," Canucks coach John Tortorella said. Vancouver did lose defenseman Andrew Alberts 2:43 into the game when he took an elbow from Calgarys Brian McGrattan, who was given a major penalty and game misconduct for the hit. Alberts did not return to the game. The 25-year-old Simmonds meanwhile, netted two of Philadelphias three power-play goals in Saturdays 4-3 shootout win over the Edmonton Oilers. Scott Hartnell had the other and Steve Mason made 13 saves and another two stops in the tiebreaker. Michael Raffl had the winner for the Flyers in the third round as he skated down and out to the left, out-waiting Edmonton netminder Ilya Bryzgalov before throwing the puck in under the crrossbar for the win. Giannis Antetokounmpo Bucks Jersey. "I didnt really expect to be sent out there. I really enjoyed it," said Raffl, who took his first chance in an NHL shootout in his 26th career game. It was the first time Philly faced Bryzgalov since buying out the final six seasons of his eight-year, $51 million deal over the summer. Philadelphia trailed 2-0 after the first period, but Simmonds led the comeback charge with his third straight two-goal game. He is the first Flyer to post such a streak since Reggie Leach in 1981. "Obviously we had (Bryzgalov) the last two years and I actually thought he played a really good game. He made a lot of stops for them," Simmonds said. "We just had to keep crashing the net, and we had some pretty nice goals in that shootout. It was nice to get the two points." Philadelphia improved to 5-1-1 in its last seven games and won the opener of six-game road trip, snapping a six-game losing streak as the visiting club. Simmonds has nine points over a five-game point streak, while Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux, who also scored in the shootout, extended their respective runs with two assists each. Voracek has six goals and nine helpers over a nine-game point streak, while Giroux has posted five goals and 10 assists during an eight-game run. The trio will try to help the Flyers avenge a 3-2 home loss to the Canucks on Oct. 15. Vancouver has won three of its past four versus Philadelphia overall. That includes a 6-2 victory the last time the clubs met in Vancouver on Dec. 28, 2010. Philadelphia had won seven in a row as the guest in this series before that meeting. ' ' '

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork. Sterling Brown Bucks Jersey .com) - Ty Lawson contributed 29 points and dished out 12 assists to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 114-107 win over the short- handed Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. Kenneth Faried totaled 22 points with 14 rebounds for the Nuggets, while Wilson Chandler posted 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the win. Denver has won a season high-tying five straight. Dallas, playing in the second half of a back-to-back after nipping Sacramento in overtime on Tuesday, rested forwards Dirk Nowitzki and Tyson Chandler. Point guard Rajon Rondo also took the night off to rest a sore left Achilles. Our defense wasnt very good tonight, starting from the beginning of the game, Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said. Thats one thing I was worried about, with three of their starters out, our guys would relax a little bit. J.J. Barea had a team-high 17 points off the bench for the Mavs, while regular starters Chandler Parsons and Monta Ellis combined to score 18 points on 7- of-24 shooting. Ellis had just five points on 1-for-11 shooting as Dallas dropped the third game in its last four. All things considered we did a lot of good things tonight. But we had too many lapses and mistakes, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said. Richard Jeffersons 3-pointer closed Dallas gap to 101-95 with 5:05 remaining in the fourth, then Devin Harris layup less than a minute later cut the margin to four. Lawson responded with a mid-range jumper, was fouled and hit the subsequent free throw to keep the Nuggets in front. Parsons then buried a jumper from just inside the arc, after he converted a layup, that made it a three-point game with over three minutes on the clock. Faried came up with a big offensive rebound inside two minutes and knocked down two free throws. Lawson found Faried inside for a layup on the next Nuggets possession and they held on down the stretch. We were able to still get the win and we understand that we are going to have to play better, Shaw added. Denver made half of its shots in the opening quarter and limited the Mavs to 1-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, taking a 28-24 lead into the second. The Nuggets continued their hot shooting in the second quarter and again held Dallas to just 1-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. J.J. Hicksons three-point play gave the hosts a double-digit lead just before half and Denver held a 59-50 lead at the break. Parsons trey early in the third cut the Mavs deficit to 61-55, but Denver followed with 13 straight points. Dallas went 4:12 without a score during the run as the Nuggets gained comfortable control. Barea then fueled a 12-1 run with seven points to help the Mavs work their way back to 79-71. Alonzo Gees 3-pointer pushed the margin back to 15, but Charlie Villanueva canned a triple just before the buzzer to pull the visitors within 90-78 entering the fourth. Game Notes Both teams will meet again in Dallas on Friday ... Denver held a 51-39 rebounding edge ... Jefferson added 16 points in the loss ... Dwight Powell tied a career-high with eight points for Dallas ... Hickson had 13 points with eight rebounds and Arron Afflalo scored 12 points for Denver. Giannis Antetokounmpo Bucks Jersey . Fake Rockies Jerseys . - David Tomasek had two goals in regulation time and was the lone scorer in the shootout as the Belleville Bulls upset the Oshawa Generals 6-5 on Wednesday in Ontario Hockey League action. https://www.cheaprockiesjerseys.us/ .C. -- Jackson Whistle made 26 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Kelowna Rockets blanked the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-0 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action. Each week, TSN.ca Fantasy Editor Scott Cullen, NFL Editor Ben Fisher, and Isaac Owusu discuss three hot fantasy football topics. As the regular season starts to wind down and the weather gets colder, how will Peyton Manning finish out the fantasy season? Cullen: Cold weather hasnt typically been a problem for Manning. He was a monster last December, completing 70.7% of his passes for 1399 yards and 11 touchdowns in five games. The next couple weeks, at Kansas City and against Tennessee, could be tough matchups against good pass defences, but the last three – San Diego, at Houston and at Oakland, seem like fine opportunities for Manning to put up typically strong numbers. Fisher: Even if youre on board with the notion Manning fades when the lights shine brightest, its far too early to take that into consideration. The Broncos are still in a fight in the standings as well – tied with the Chiefs atop the AFC West and only a game in front of the Patriots for home field advantage throughout the playoffs – so Manning wont be given any games off any time soon either. A Week 16 matchup in Houston could be worrisome for Manning owners in their championship games, but until then I expect the veteran to put up the same type of league leading numbers hes had all season long. Owusu: Its no secret that Denver Broncos led by Peyton Manning and his talented receiving core have flourished in a pass-first offense. What may come as a surprise is they boast a top 12 rushing offense, and RB Knowshon Moreno, who in the preseason few expected to be their starting back is currently 7th in the league in rushing with 824 yards. Now with the cold weather kicking in, you can surely expect a dip in Mannings production. Its important to note that three out of his next four matchups are against pass defenses ranked in the top 15, while their other game (week 15 versus division rival, the San Diego Chargers) is at home in what should be a cold and snowy Sports Authority Field at Mile High stadium. Denver will need to protect Manning and their possessions, so count on them to trust Moreno (or any committee of running backs they use) more and turn to the run game significantly more. Coming off three of his best performances of the season, is Maurice Jones-Drew an RB1 down the stretch? Cullen: Jones-Drew has scored touchdowns in each of the last three games, but hes a long way from being RB1 based on his overall production this season. Hes had two games with more than 100 yards from scrimmage all year so, while there is reason for optimism, and enough that he should fit as RB2 or FLEX, its a reach to believe that, after a dozen weeks of mediocrity, he is now a suitable RB1. Fisher: Jacksonville, and every player associated with the team, is really hard to trust. With upcoming matchups at Cleveland, vs Houston, Buffalo, and Tennessee, and then at Indianapolis, its not unreasonable to think the Jaguars will be competitive enough to avoid catch-up mode where the run game is all but abandoned. Combining his touches in the passing game – hes averaged more thann five targets his past four games – MJD will be afforded the workload to put up RB1 numbers. Wholesale Rockies Jerseys. That said, Jacksonville doesnt score enough – Jones-Drew has just five TDs on the year – to consider their 28-year-old RB as anything more than an RB2. Owusu: Maurice Jones Drew has put up reasonable stats against legitimate defences as of late, but theres always the fear that his performance can revert to what it was in the first half of the season. The tests dont get easier and to be frank, the Jacksonville Jaguars arent a team expected to run the ball to extend a lead or drain the clock. However, Jones-Drews value comes in pass catching and making the most of his usual less than 20 rushing opportunities. Due to the current lack of running back depth and production he can be considered an RB2 in PPR leagues, while in standard formats he is still a borderline RB2/Flex due to his tough upcoming schedule and expected lack of rush attempts. What can you expect from Michael Crabtree in the coming weeks? Cullen: Id hold my enthusiasm for Crabtree initially – the same as I would for any player returning from a long-term injury – but if he gets up to speed over the next couple weeks, I could see a strong finish to in the final three games. Crabtree was clearly Colin Kaepernicks preferred option in the passing game last year – recording 538 receiving yards and four touchdowns in the last five games -- and Kaepernick hasnt been the same without him, so expect Crabtree to resume a prominent role when he shows that hes up to handling the speed of the game. Fisher: A likely play count as Crabtree works his way back into game shape should prevent him from hitting the solid WR2 numbers he was putting up last year right away, but Im betting he gets there eventually. There is a sharp drop-off in production in the 49ers receiving game after Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis – even Mario Manningham only has eight catches in his three games – so theres definitely room in the offence for Crabtree to put up big numbers. If Crabtree can regain his chemistry with Colin Kaepernick, and thats certainly a factor with Kaepernicks relative struggles this year, hell get his targets down the stretch. The 49ers are in a fight in the NFC West and need their best players to produce; Crabtree is exactly that and if healthy, will return to his 2012 fantasy lines sooner than later. Owusu: Crabtrees presence is a welcome one for San Francisco 49ers, but expecting WR1 or even WR2 numbers may be a little too ambitious. He made a name for himself last season off all the YAC (yards after catch) that he was able to gain from short to medium passes. This issue is he will need time and repetitions to develop chemistry with the inconsistent Colin Kaepernick. The likelihood is that Crabtree would be on a play count as he looks to get back in game shape and the 49ers wont try to overwork him coming off the torn Achilles. He should be treated as a flex at best as the 49ers are merely working him up to a strong playoff push. ' ' '

BALTIMORE -- Playing on the road against a team they have struggled against all year, the last-place Tampa Bay Rays begrudgingly accepted a doubleheader split. Cody Zeller Jersey . After rookie right-hander Alex Colome excelled in a 5-2 victory in the opener, the Rays fell to Chris Tillman and the Orioles 4-1 on Friday night. "They outpitched us in the second game, but we actually pitched well tonight," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "Nevertheless, you will always take a split in a day-night doubleheader, but after you win the first one you get a little greedy." Tampa Bay is 2-8 against the Orioles this season, 1-3 in Baltimore. In the first game, the Orioles mustered only three hits -- one after the second inning. Added to the roster for the doubleheader as the 26th man, Colome (1-0) gave up one run, two hits and four walks in 5 2-3 innings to earn his second big league victory. The first came against Miami in his debut on May 30, 2013. Its been a strange year for Colome, who served a 50-game suspension until May 25 for violating the leagues drug policy. He was activated by the Rays and pitched four innings of relief against Toronto on May 26 before being optioned to the minors after the game. In his last start for Triple-A Durham, Colome gave up nine runs in 1 1-3 innings against Syracuse on June 21. He had far more success against the Orioles, holding them to one hit after Nick Markakis opened with a single. Jake McGee worked the ninth for his second save Orioles starter Kevin Gausman (3-2) yielded five runs, seven hits and a career-high four walks in five-plus innings. Baltimore got a first-inning run when Nick Markakis singled and scored on a groundout by Chris Davis. In the second, Brandon Guyer hit the first of his three doubles to knock in a run, and Matt Joyce followed with an RBI single. A two-out RBI single by Jose Molina made it 3-1 in the fourth. Doubles by Guyer and Joyce, along with a single by Sean Rodriguez, added two runs in the sixth. In the nightcap, the Orioles were again struggling to score before Nick Hundley homered to put Baltimore ahead in the sixth and Nelson Cruz added a two-run shot in the seventh. Hundley connected off Juan Carlos Oviedo (3-3) for a 2-1 lead, and Cruz hit his 25th home run -- tied for the major league lead -- off Joel Peralta after Adam Jones led off with his fourth hit of the game. That gave Baltimore 38 homers in June, most in the majors. "We have a lot of power on this team, a lot of guys who can hit it out anywhere on the field. Thats why this lineup is so dangerous," Hundley said. "When you have a team, a lineup, with this much depth and this much power to all fields, it makes it tough to pitch to." Tillman (7-4) gave up one run and four hits over eight innings to earn his first win in seven home starts this season. He was 0-4 with a 2.78 ERA. Zach Britton got three outs for his 10th save. Rays starter Jake Odorizzi allowed one run and six hits in five innings, striking out six. "I had no pitches tonight. I had no fastball command, no off-speed pitches, slider was terrible, changeup was equally as bad," the rookie said. "My curveball, I think I threw it twice. It was just an all-around bad, bad experience out there." But Tampa Bay pitchers got nine strikeouts in the nightcap, giving them a major league record 261 in June. Cleveland had 253 in June 1964. James Loneys fourth homer gave the last-place Rays a 1-0 lead in the second inning, but Baltimore matched that in the bottom half with an RBI single by Hundley. Odorizzi threw 31 pitches in the inning, the last a third strike to Manny Machado with the bases loaded. Baltimore loaded the bases again in the fifth before J.J. Hardy fouled out and David Lough struck out. The Orioles stranded nine through five innings and were 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position. He was held out of the next game but returned the game after and played another month, trying to push through the pain. Over those 12 games, Parise had only four goals and one assist. The Wild decided to shut him down and let him fully heal. In 37 games this season, Parise has 15 goals and 12 assists. Stitched White Sox Jerseys . Maria Silvia Bastos Marques, president of the EOM (Municipal Olympic Company), will be leaving her post but will remain as an advisor, a city hall statement said Tuesday.Scottsdale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Martin Laird carded his second straight 5-under 66 on Friday to grab the lead at the Phoenix Open, but the bigger story was who wont be around for the weekend. Laird ended 36 holes at 10-under-par 132. He closed his second round with a bogey at the 18th, and that was his first bogey of the tournament. While that was his first bogey, two of the biggest names in the field - Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson - dropped too many shots and will both miss the cut. It marks the second time ever that the two have missed the cut at the same event. The other time that happened was at the 2012 Greenbrier Classic. Woods struggled to an 11-over 82 and he ended at 13-over-par 155 at the TPC Scottsdale. He missed the cut in his second straight start for the first time in his PGA Tour career. Woods had three pars and a bogey over his first four holes. An unplayable lie penalty at the 14th led to a double-bogey. Woods rinsed his tee shot at the par-5 15th. He found a bunker with his fourth there and needed four more to get down. The triple-bogey dropped him to plus-8 for the tournament. Woods bogeyed 17 and 18 as well. Woods flew the green at the par-3 fourth and hit a pair of poor chip shots. He walked off with another double-bogey, which dropped him into last place. Woods birdied the fifth and eighth, but bogeyed six and seven. He closed with another bogey at the last. I was more committed to what I was doing on my back nine, hit some better shots, but still have a lot of work to do, Woods said. It was not a very good day from the start, until the end, but I fought all day. Mickelson, a three-time winner of this event, struggled to a 5-over 76, which left him at 3-over-par 145. The cut line will fall at plus-1. The conditions during Woods round were not ideal, and they got worse while Mickelson was on the course. Mickelson carded six pars and three bogeys on the front nine. Mickelson dropped two more shots at 12 and 13. He got one back at the par-5 15th, where he rolled in a 5-foot birdie try. Needing one birdie over the final three holes to make the cut, Mickelson made two pars and a bogey to end at plus-3. Daniel Berger, who is playing on a sponsors exemption, posted a 2-under 69 and he stands alone in second place at minus-8. Justin Thomas carded a 3-under 68 to move into thhird place at 7-under-par 135. White Sox Jerseys 2019. Former Masters champions Zach Johnson (70), Bubba Watson (71) and Angel Cabrera (69) share fourth place at minus-6. They were joined there by first- round leader Ryan Palmer (72), Ryan Moore (67) and Robert Streb (70). Rain fell for most of Fridays second round and play was eventually suspended for the night due to darkness. The first round had also been halted by darkness and was completed earlier Friday. The second round will resume Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. ET with third round tee times starting at approximately 11 a.m. Laird was in the fourth-to-last group out off the first tee. After three pars to open his round, he stuffed his tee shot inside two feet at the fourth. Laird kicked that in for birdie then parred his next three holes. At the eighth, Laird poured in a long birdie effort from off the green to move to minus-7 and within one of Berger. Laird parred four in a row from the ninth before soaring into the lead. Laird drained a 19-footer for birdie at the 13th. He kicked in a short birdie at the par-5 15th to grab the lead at minus-9. After a birdie at 16, Laird made it three in a row as he drained his second straight 7-foot birdie putt. The Scotsman was three clear of the field at 11-under heading to the last. With darkness setting in, Laird missed the green with his approach shot and played his third to six feet. He missed the par effort, but was still two clear with 36 holes to play. Berger, who was in the last group out in the morning wave, opened with nine pars in a row. He traded a bogey for a birdie from the 10th. After five more pars, Berger birdied the final two holes to end at minus-8. Im really happy with the way I performed. The course is playing really tough out there. I made nine pars to start the round and just kind of hung in there, Berger said. NOTES: Laird owns the 36-hole lead for the third time in his PGA Tour career ... He has won one of the previous two times he was in that position ... With the poor weather on Friday, attendance dipped to 81,309 ... The cut will likely fall at 1-over-par 143, and that will mean Robert Allenby, Kenny Perry, Ryo Ishikawa, Jason Dufner, Erik Compton, Padraig Harrington, David Toms and Camilo Villegas will miss the cut along with Woods and Mickelson. TORONTO -- Hybrid icing will be in effect for the start of the 2013-14 NHL regular season after it was approved by the players. Diamondbacks Jerseys 2020 . The NHLPA gave the go-ahead for the rule change that makes icing a race to an imaginary line across the faceoff dots instead of the puck, which was given a trial run during the pre-season. The goal is to prevent serious injuries, like the one that sidelined Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Joni Pitkanen for the entire season. Pitkanen broke his left heel bone in eight places on an icing touch-up in April. Its a similar injury to the one suffered by former Washington Capitals forward Pat Peake, whose career ended not too long after. "After testing hybrid icing during the pre-season games, the players participated in a survey and a majority of teams supported this rule change in an effort to make the game safer," NHLPA special assistant to the executive director Mathieu Schneider said in a statement. "We are hopeful that the implementation of the hybrid icing rule, which is a middle ground between the old rule and no-touch icing, will help minimize the incidence of player injuries on icing plays." Some players seemed happy with the change. "I think its good. It kind of brings the race a little bit further away from the end boards," Toronto Maple Leafs winger James van Riemsdyk said. "Once they do blow it or decide what to do with it, it gives you more time to react." Others expressed some doubts about hybrid icing, most notably hesitancy or unfamiliarity on the part of the linesman who has to make the call. "The normal reaction is right away Oh, we dont like it," Calgary Flames coach Bob Hartley said. "If the hybrid icing saves one injury this year, its worth it." NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr said in a phone interview last week that he hopes hybrid icing represents "an obvious safety improvement (that is) not otherwise damaging to the game," but conceded that its different from his vantage point and players. "Its going to require adjustment and while weve seen it ultimately work in college and in other leagues, its not the same as playing in the NHL, and were going to have to watch it very carefully because our game is played at a higher speed than anywhere else," commissioner Gary Bettman said. The AHL experimented with it last season during the NHL lockout, and it came with mixed reviews from players. Hartley said AHL coaches hated it for the first two weeks and loved it by Christmas. Its possible it takes time for NHL players and coaches to embrace it now. "Theres going to be some missed calls," Hartley said. "Its kind of a grey area. Its a judgment call and every time you create a judgment call, theres going to be some calls going your way or against you, calls you like and dont like." Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty expressed concern about a missed call happening at the worst possible time. "I know you want to protect the players and this is a step in the right direction, but Im just scared that that Game 7, game-winning goal is going to come down to a hybrid icing non-call and theres going to be a big uproar about it," he said. Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf prefers the traditional race to the puck over hybrid icing, but says he can live with the change. "I think for me personally its just what Ive been used to how the games been played for a long time, so obviously its an adjustment," Phaneuf said. "Youre going to adapt to either way." Street picked up his team-high 16th goal of the season, giving Novembers AHL player of the month 23 points in his last 15 games. Markus Granlund had a goal and an assist for Abbotsford (20-6-2), giving him a 10-game point streak in which he has 13 points. Brett Olson had a goal and two assists. Greg Nemisz and Michael Ferland also scored, Corban Knight and Kane Lafranchise had two assists apiece, while Joni Ortio made 22 saves. Brett Bulmer had a goal and an assist for Iowa (8-13-1), while Erik Haula also scored. Johan Gustafsson stopped 20 shots in the loss. The Heat increased their lead atop the AHL to five points, improving their record to 16-2-1 in their past 19. The Wild opened the scoring just 64 seconds of the game. Bulmer recovered the puck in the corner and quickly centred for Haula who converted for his fifth goal of the year. Abbotsford tied it around the eight-minute mark. First Street picked up his 15th of the season, one-timing a centring feed by Josh Jooris at 14:40. Then Nemisz recorded his fifth of the season, chipping a loose puck past Gustafsson after Knight threw it on the goal. Granlund got his 11th of the season at 5:10 of second period. Kane Lafranchise threw the puck on net and Granlund corralled the rebound, tucking it between Gustafssons skate and the post. Street scored his second at 14:55. Knight dished him a backhand pass that Street one-timed, top shelf, giving the Heat a commanding 5-2 lead. The offensive continued in the third when Olson scored at 8:50 on the power play. He redirected a perfect pass from Lafranchise for his fifth of the year. ' ' '

SOCHI, Russia – Even before the Olympic tournament began, before the under-looked and under-appreciated Fins would stun the entire nation of Russia, Olli Jokinen prescribed the formula that would get it done. Pittsburgh Pirates Store . “I think we have the best goaltending out of all the other countries,” Jokinen said. “We play a good team game. Plus, we feel that at the end of the day it doesnt matter who puts the Finnish jersey on the team is going to play the same game anyways. For us its not so much about the names on the back, its about the good, solid team game and good goaltending.” That was what it took to bring down Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and the home country at Bolshoy Ice Dome on Wednesday night: spectacular goaltending from Tuukka Rask, a few timely goals and continued adherence to a team game, despite injury losses that seemed too burdensome to overcome. Ever the underdog, Finland has altered the face of these Games in Russia and reminded the hockey world, yet again, why only one country has medaled in three of the four Olympics involving NHL players. “You know that nobody ever believed that we could win, but it doesnt matter,” said captain Teemu Selanne, who had a goal and an assist in the 3-1 upset over Russia. “The experts are wrong many times. We have to believe in our team.” There was no Ovechkin on this team, no Malkin, not even the injured and more recognizable likes of Mikko and Saku Koivu, Valtteri Filppula, or even Aleksander Barkov, the second overall pick in last summers NHL draft. For star power, it came down to Rask, who was terrific with 37 saves, and Selanne, playing in his final Olympics at age 43. “Weve got good team spirit and our style to play,” said Leo Komarov, who played in the NHL with the Maple Leafs last season. The Finns, who won bronze in 1998 and 2010 and silver in 2006, were a determined and youthful bunch on this night, led, however, by the aging Selanne, the unsolvable Rask and 21-year-old Mikael Granlund, who set up Selannes go-ahead goal and eventual game-winner before scoring the third and final marker himself. “I think this is a great business card for Granlund to show how good he can be,” Selanne said of Granlund, who has 28 points in his second season with the Minnesota Wild. In upsetting the Russians and holding Ovechkin and Malkin off the score-board entirely – the pair combined for two goals all tournament – Finland gets an opportunity to play in Fridays semi-final against Sweden with another medal chance close at hand. Mindful of a rest advantage – Russia was playing for the fourth time in five days – Selanne believes a turning point for his country came in their final preliminary round match against Canada during which they lost 2-1 in overtime, hanging around despite an overwhelming talent disparity. “My young teammates, when they realized that they can compete against the best players in the world it felt great,” said Selanne, who played in his first Olympics in 1992. “I dont know how many people saw that, [but] I saw it very [closely]. I was very proud of those guys. I think thats the carryover from that game. Its a good feeling when you realize that you can compete against the best.” Yet again it was a sum of parts defeating what was ultimately an incredibly talented and yet flawed Russian squad, one that buckled under the strain of a countrys worth of pressure. They fell in the quarterfinals for the second straight Olympics. “It sucks,” said Ovechkin, who had just a single goal all tournament, held to three shots by Finland and singled out by his head coach afterward. Rask was there all night to turn aside whatever Ovechkin and the Russians could muster. The 26-year-old got stronger as the game wore on, stopping all 27 shots in the final 40 minutes, including one on Alexander Radulov in the waning moments of victory. “Tuukka?” said Komarov with a grin. “Hes okay.” And ultimately it was Rask, who summed up the under-looked and under-appreciated Finns. “Even though nobody ever picks us to win medals,” he said, “we always seem to find a way to get there and win one.” Pirates Jerseys 2020 . Top-seeded Djokovic, who is making only his second appearance this year after reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over 54th-ranked Istomin of Uzbekistan. "It wasnt as easy as the scoreline indicates," said Djokovic, who has won in Dubai on four occasions. Cheap Pirates Jerseys . Jones took a beating, the worst one of his record reign, in a bout against Alexander Gustafsson that knocked the light heavyweight champion on the canvas for the first time in his career and put his belt in jeopardy. https://www.cheappiratesjerseys.us/ . -- Deshorn Brown scored twice, the first coming 13 seconds into the game, and the Colorado Rapids beat the undermanned Seattle Sounders 5-1 Saturday night.SUNRISE, Fla. -- With a relatively young team, Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon is of the belief that the club needs an experienced coach behind the bench. And with that, Peter Horacheks time as interim coach is over. The Panthers fired Horachek on Tuesday, after Florida went 26-36-4 under him this past season. Horachek had no previous NHL coaching experience before replacing Kevin Dineen on Nov. 8 and while Tallon lauded the interim coachs work with the club, he simply thinks that a change in direction is needed. "We just felt as a group that it wasnt quite the right fit with the direction that were headed in," Tallon said. Tallon said theres no timetable for finding a new coach, other than that the team wants to make a hire before the draft in late June. He said Peter Laviolette -- who was fired by the Philadelphia Flyers after only three games of this season -- is on his list of candidates, and theres also speculation that he could target former Nashville coach Barry Trotz. "Were going to interview every possible candidate and take our time and make the right decision," Tallon said. Horachek had been the coach of Floridas AHL affiliate in San Antonio before being summoned to lead the Panthers. Tallon said Horachek will not remain with the organization in any capacity. The team will urge the next coach to keep assistant coaches John Madden and Brian Skrudland, both of whom Tallon has in high regard. Horacheks fate was decided in the last few days and he accepted the move when told Tuesday in a "classy" manner, Tallon said. The coaching decision is one of many changes for the Panthers in recent months, with more moves coming. The team was bought last fall by New York businessman Vincent Viola, had a change in the executive ranks when Michael Yormark left as team president earlier this year, and the Panthers brought back longtime fan favourite Roberto Luongo late in this season. Plus, the team has sttockpiled plenty of picks in the next two drafts and won the right to draft No. Wholesale Pirates Jerseys. 1 overall this year. "Were not starting over," Tallon said. "Weve got a lot of young players on our team now, well have a few more added each year as we move forward and now we have to surround them with the right NHL players and pieces that we will attack in free agency or by trading some of these assets that we have." The Panthers have had seven different coaches in their last 10 seasons, with Dineen the only one in the group to take Florida to the playoffs. And the next coach will be Tallons third since he took over in Florida. Hes hoping history repeats itself with this move. Tallon was most recently the GM in Chicago and his third coach there was Joel Quenneville -- who led the Blackhawks to Stanley Cup titles in 2010 and 2013. "It took me three in Chicago to get it right," Tallon said. "So its not an easy task. Its all about getting it right. Yeah, its important. Thats why were going to take our time and really investigate and interview various candidates and do our homework and try to get the right fit." Florida finished with the second-lowest point total in the NHL this season and missed the playoffs for the 12th time in 13 seasons. The Panthers last won a playoff series in 1996, the year they lost to Colorado in the Stanley Cup finals. "He did a good job," Tallon said of Horachek. "He came in a worked hard and tried to turn things around in a hurry." Florida ranked 29th in the 30-team NHL in goals scored this season, plus were abysmal on special teams. The Panthers ranked last in the league with a 10 per cent power-play success rate -- the worst percentage posted by any team since 2000-01 -- along with a 76 per cent penalty-kill rate. The Panthers were out of the playoff race early once again, finishing 27 points out of the eighth and last post-season spot in the Eastern Conference. ' ' '

CHICAGO - David Ross said a 5-year-old could have caught Jon Lester on Thursday night. Adidas Nmd Levně Panske . That big hit in the ninth? Well, that was a nice swing by the veteran catcher. Lester pitched eight sharp innings and Ross had a tiebreaking RBI double, leading the Red Sox to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. Lester (2-2) allowed one run and seven hits for his second straight win after opening the season with two losses. The left-hander struck out nine and walked none, winning an impressive pitchers duel with White Sox ace Chris Sale. Lester retired his first 16 batters before Tyler Flowers singled in the sixth. Xander Bogaerts homered with two out in the sixth for Bostons only hit off Sale. "(Lester) was very good. Threw pitches for strikes, was down in the strike zone. He established an outstanding rhythm right from the start," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "As well as Sale was pitching it needed everything that John gave us tonight." The game was tied at 1 when Mike Napoli and pinch-hitter Mike Carp had consecutive one-out singles in the ninth for the Red Sox. Ross then had a double to right against Ronald Belisario (1-2), driving home Napoli. Jonathan Herrera added an RBI single against Scott Downs as the Red Sox captured the last two of their three-game set in Chicago. "Obviously when youve got a guy going like Sale on the other side and hes throwing the ball as well as he did tonight, its good to grind out those innings and get some runs on the board late for us," Lester said. Koji Uehara picked up his third save in three tries with a scoreless ninth, getting pinch-hitter Jose Abreu to ground to third to end the game. Sale struck out 10 and threw a career-high 127 pitches in seven innings. The left-hander was trying to become the first White Sox pitcher to start 4-0 since Jose Contreras in 2006. "Going out there any giving everything you got," Sale said about the number of pitches. "A team rolls in there like this you cant have any consternation with that, you cant shy away from that." Sale and Lester provided a big lift for the tired bullpens on each team. The Red Sox used seven pitchers in a 6-4, 14-inning win on Wednesday, while the White Sox used nine, including infielder Leury Garcia for one inning. The White Sox had a chance to grab the lead in the seventh but Adam Dunn was thrown out at the plate when he tried to score from first on Alejandro De Azas two-out double into the right-field corner. "Youve got to take a chance like that especially the way Lesters pitching," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. Sale got some help from centre fielder Adam Eaton in the first inning. With two out, David Ortiz drove a 2-2 pitch to deep left-centre field, but Eaton jumped and took a home run away by making a one-handed grab. That was the closest either team came to scoring until Bogaerts connected for his first home run of the season, driving a 1-0 pitch deep to left. The White Sox responded in the bottom half. Flowers got on for Chicagos first baserunner and Garcia followed with a ground-rule double to right. Eaton then reached on an infield single, tying it at 1. "If youre a baseball fan that was a really good game tonight," Ross said. "Two big lefties - probably two of the best ones in the game going at it - and we came out ahead." Parma had not scored in its previous three games in Florence, but took the lead on the stroke of halftime when Walter Garganos shot was deflected over the prone Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto. Fiorentina levelled in the 64th minute when Gonzalo Rodriguez leapt highest at the near post to head a corner across into the right side of the goal. The hosts went ahead 12 minutes later when Juan Vargas controlled the ball between two Parma defenders before turning and firing past Antonio Mirante from close range. But seconds from fulltime, Gobbi -- who was practically on the goalline -- headed in Jonathan Biabianys cross to earn a competition point for Parma. "There is bitterness, disappointment," Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella said. "In the first half we didnt do very well, partly down to the great work of Parma, while I saw a different Fiorentina after the break. "We had a different tempo and style, which is why we deservedly went in front. Boty Adidas Nmd Levně. We really should have won the match, we should have kept the ball, instead we kept trying to break them down and we conceded a goal." There was more bad news for Fiorentina as striker Giuseppe Rossi -- who has scored six goals in seven matches since returning from almost two years of injuries -- was forced off with a muscle injury in the 36th. It is another blow for the the U.S.-born forward who would have been hoping for a recall to the Italy squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Denmark and Armenia. Fiorentina remains fifth, seven points behind early leader Roma. Parma is 14th. It was an end-to-end match and Alberto Aquilani almost scored a stunning opener in the 22nd minute with an overhead kick which went just past the left post. Rossi also headed narrowly past the left upright moments later. Parma should have gone in front in the 25th but Raffaele Palladino fired straight at Neto. Fiorentina missed a chance on the hour mark when Mirante pulled off a great save to deny Marcos Alonso. ' ' '

CHICAGO -- Dale Sveum doesnt know if hell be coming back for a third season as manager of the Chicago Cubs. Yandy Diaz Jersey . Sveum is under contract to return for 2014. But team president Theo Epstein has said all jobs will be evaluated after another losing season. "Im not going to sit here and lie that youre not wondering whats going to happen in four to five days from now. Thats just human nature," Sveum said Wednesday before the Cubs game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. "Theres nothing you can do about it, or control those decisions. You just keep plugging away. Theres nothing you can do about it." Sveum was hired by Epstein before the 2012 season as the Cubs started a major rebuilding project. Though Chicagos minor-league system has improved, the major league team has struggled as the club has shed long-term contracts and gone with younger players. Sveum expects to hear about his future shortly after the season ends Sunday. "Thats part of the gig," Sveum said, "is knowing the day after the season." This season, Cubs have dealt veteran pitchers Matt Garza and Scott Feldman and longtime left fielder Alfonso Soriano, among others. With those experienced players gone, the Cubs were looking to some of their youngsters to take a step forward, but that hasnt happened. Starlin Castro has slumped to a .243 average, Anthony Rizzo is hitting .230 and Jeff Samardzija has an 8-12 record. On Tuesday, the Cubs fell to 65-93, clinched their first last-place finish since 2006, and lost a team-record 50th game at home. In two years, Sveum has a 126-194 record. Sveum seemed to know what he was signing on for in fall 2011. "We needed to get our minor league system much healthier and hit the jackpot on some free agents that we sign and things like that," Sveum said. "So nothings really changed that I was told or anything like that. Youre never promised anything." He might not be in Chicago anymore when touted prospects like Javier Baez and Kris Bryant make it to Wrigley. "Thats why you take these jobs when you know things are not going to be all that good at the beginning, and the development part. You hope youre around for when things turn around. Theres no question," Sveum said. "Thats what we do this for -- to win and be here when were getting ready to be very competitive." U.S. coach Juergen Klinsmann wasnt too upset. His team also qualified for the knockout stage after Portugal beat Ghana 2-1 in the other final match in Group G, which saw both teams eliminated. Mueller scored five times in South Africa in 2010 and scored his fourth on Friday in a rain-soaked Recife. With two wins and a draw, Germany topped the group with seven points, while the U.S. progressed with four. Portugal also finished with four points but the U.S. had a better goal difference. "We controlled the match and did not allow any chances until late in the match," Germany coach Joachim Loew said. "We failed to score a second goal that would have settled the issue earlier." Mueller scored in the 55th minute with a side-footed shot from the edge of the area as tropical downpours drenched the Arena Pernambuco. He now has nine goals in nine World Cup games. "We clearly dominated the match and we played not a bad game against a top-fit American team," Mueller said. "I finally scored a pretty goal. I manage it every now and then. We still have big targets ahead of us." Germany, a three-time champion, now travels to Porto Alegre to play the runner-up in Group H on June 30. Both teams knew before kickoff that a draw would see them through, but neither held back. The game pitted Loew against his good friend and predecessor Juergen Klinsmann, now in charge of the U.S. team. The two coaches smiled as they shook hands and patted each other on the shoulder after the match. Klinsmann warmly embraced the German players/ Germanys goal came after a corner by Mesut Ozil. U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard did well to punch out a header by Per Mertesacker but pushed the ball into the path of Mueller who rifled a shot inside the far post from the edge of the penalty area. Mueller played despite needing five stiches to close a cut above his right eye sustained in the 2-2 draw with Ghana on Saturday and still visible five days later. TThe United States had a chance to level the match in stoppage time, but Alejandro Bedoyas low shot inside the box was swept away by the sliding Mario Goetze, a late substitute. Daniel Robertson Rays Jersey. The Americans won a corner but Clint Dempseys header at the far post went high. Loew reshuffled his lineup by bringing in forward Lukas Podolski for Goetze and midfielder Sebastian Schweinsteiger for Sami Khedira. Center back Geoff Cameron was replaced in the U.S. lineup by Omar Gonzalez. There were many empty seats in the Arena Pernambuco when the match kicked off but fans streamed in during the first half, apparently delayed by traffic jams as torrential rain flooded parts of this northeastern Brazilian city. Germany was quicker off the mark and Howard intercepted a low cross from Podolski before Michael Bradley made a good clearance and Gonzalez defended well to deny Mueller a shot from close range. Howards 103th cap was a record for a U.S. goalkeeper and he did well to stop Ozils shot in the 35th minute. Graham Zusi had the first good shot for the U.S. but his effort in the 22nd went high. Referee Ravshan Irmatov of Uzbekistan collided accidentally with Jermaine Jones in the 28th and the American midfielder went down hard but got up. The referee shrugged off the challenge. Miroslav Klose came on for Podolski at the start of the second half but failed to score and grab sole possession of the World Cup scoring record that he now shares with Brazils Ronaldo at 15. Ozil beat Gonzalez to a cross at the start of the second half but sent his header high, while Klose connected with a cross from Schweinsteiger but was off balance and did not get off a clean header. Lineups: United States: Tim Howard; Fabian Johnson, Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler, DaMarcus Beasley; Jermaine Jones, Kyle Beckerman, Graham Zusi (DeAndre Yedlin, 84th), Michael Bradley, Brad Davis (Alejandro Bedoya, 59th); Clint Dempsey. "First, I would like to offer my deepest and sincerest apologies for any harm I have inflicted on University of Missouri defensive lineman, Michael Sam," the statement read.VANCOUVER -- For at least a few hours, the Vancouver Whitecaps could put the Camilo Sanvezzo saga aside. As their best player continued to orchestrate his dramatic exit from the club, the Whitecaps added size and creativity at Thursdays Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Vancouver had two picks in the first seven, selecting defender Christian Dean at No. 3 before taking midfielder Andre Lewis at No. 7. "Being selected is a dream come true," said Dean. "Especially a team on the West Coast, growing up in California ... (Vancouver is) close to home." Hearing a player actually wanting to be at the club should come as welcome news for fans of the Whitecaps, who are now resigned to the fact that Sanvezzo -- the 2013 MLS Golden Boot winner -- will be sold to a Mexican team after forcing Vancouvers hand. And its not only Dean who is happy about his new team. "My mom is ecstatic," he added. "I think shes happier than I am." The 20-year-old from East Palo Alto was selected using the pick Vancouver acquired in the July 2012 trade that sent striker Eric Hassli to Toronto FC. Dean spent the last three seasons with the NCAAs California Golden Bears, starting all 55 games he played. "I bring energy. Big, athletic, on the larger side," said Dean, who stands six foot three and weighs 198 pounds. "Good feet -- especially at centre back, I kind of pride my self a little bit on that. Its something that I like to use to my advantage." The Philadelphia Union traded up to take Connecticut goalkeeper Andre Blake with the first pick before the D.C. United used the second pick to select defender Steve Birnbaum, who was Deans college teammate at Cal. "I dont know much about Philly," said Blake, who originally hails from Jamaica. "I heard something yesterday about how its the place for a cheesesteak or something. Thats as much as I know. But Im pretty sure Ill get adjusted and learn everything I need to know." Meanwhile, the Montreal Impact took Creighton defender Eric Miller with the fifth pick, while Toronto FC traded up to draft Xavier defender Nick Hagglund at No. 10. Left-footed with the ability to play either in the centre or left of defence, Dean said he will have to increase the physical side of his game against MLS competition. "I think I will have to adapt. College was a physical game, especially stepping up from the youth level to college, it got more physical," he said on a conference call. "I think playing against bigger and stronger people, Ill have to become a lot more physical and to do that Ill just have to make a little mental jump to achieve that." Dean might jjust get that chance as Vancouvers backline has at least one hole heading into training camp next month with the retirement of Y. Wholesale Padres Jerseys. P. Lee. Meanwhile, Jay DeMerit doesnt have a contract for 2014, but new head coach Carl Robinson has said he wants to bring his captain back into the fold. "I think Im ready to come in and play, wherever I would have ended up," said Dean, who played as a centre back in college this season after two years on the left. "Especially with Vancouver, coming in the defence will be something that will be a possibility for me." Robinson said the Whitecaps had Dean rated high on their draft board. "Hes a great athlete with a fantastic left foot and we believe he has massive upside," Robinson said in a release. "We are confident that Christians game will translate very well to MLS and we look forward to seeing him at camp." Dean has never been to Vancouver and said that he wasnt tipped off during pre-draft discussions with the club that the Whitecaps would be his destination. "I talked to the coaching staff while I was at the combine during one of the player meetings and hit it off," he said. "Other than that there was no real talk of Hey, well select you or stuff like that. "It was kind of a bit of a surprise, but in the end Im happy that I got picked by Vancouver." Lewis was also pleased to be joining the Whitecaps, but for different reasons. "Im a fan of Vancouver because of Darren Mattocks," the 19-year-old said of the Whitecaps striker and fellow Jamaican. "I love the support that the fans give to Vancouver. Im looking forward to starting my professional career with the Whitecaps and to just go there and work hard and do my best." Lewis said he and Mattocks live about 10 minutes apart but that pair didnt speak about the possibility of being teammates in MLS. The five-foot-nine, 145-pound midfielder, who will join the Whitecaps from Jamaican club Portmore United F.C., has represented his country at the under-17 and under-20 levels and earned his first senior call up in 2012. "On the pitch, I always want to be a top player," said Lewis. "Win or lose, I want to be on top of my game at all times." Notes: As a Generation Adidas player, Deans salary will not count against the MLS salary cap. ... Dean said he is friends with Whitecaps striker Omar Salgado from their time with the U.S. under-20 team. ... In the second round, Toronto selected Elon midfielder Daniel Lovitz at No. 24, Vancouver took Connecticut striker Mamadou Diouf at No. 30 and Montreal went with Cal Poly midfielder George Malki at No. 37. TORONTO -- Players arrived a few at a time from across Canada on Thursday to begin preparations for a three-day camp at the Mastercard Centre before heading for Sweden for more practice and three pre-tournament games. Willie Brown Raiders Jersey . What wasnt known is whether Halifax Mooseheads forward Jonathan Drouin, projected to be a top points producer, will be able to skate. He suffered a concussion last week after being hit from behind in a game against the Quebec Remparts. He was to be evaluated by team doctors Thursday night to see if he is ready to resume skating. Drouin said he feels better, but its up to the doctors to say if he can skate. "I want to get on the ice with the guys as soon as possible, but its my health and Im not going to push it," said Drouin, the third-overall pick in the NHL draft in June by the Tampa Bay Lightning. "But its not me deciding those things. Its more medical testing to make sure Im fine in my head." Coach Brent Sutter doubts that Drouin will skate this week, but it wont disrupt the teams preparations either way. "Well monitor him," said Sutter. "Theres no rush or panic. We have a few days before we need to be concerned about it." Drouin played well at last years world juniors, when Canada was shut out of the medals after losing to the United States in the semifinals. And he was a force as Halifax won the Memorial Cup. He was disappointed that the Lightning didnt keep him in the NHL after training camp, but since then he has been tearing up the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 17 goals and 50 points in only 23 games. Ryan Jankowski, the junior teams top scout, said the experience Drouin acquired last season has made him a better player. "Hes been through a lot," said Jankowski. "Winning a Memorial Cup and being part of the world juniors was huge for him, but now hes taking his game to the next level. "His game has changed. Hes more complete, but he has also raised his offensive game to dominate more than he did last year, if thats possible." Another returning player is Edmonton Oil Kings defenceman Griffin Reinhart, who was slapped with a four-game suspension for slashing an American player in last years world juniors. He sat out one game in that tournament, but is to miss the first three games this time. Sutter shot down any notion that the suspension would play any part in the decision on whether to keep the big and gifted rearguard. "Were not going to be worried about the suspension he has," said Sutter. "If we have to carry six defencemen to start the tournament, well do so. "You look at the youth on our team, it outweighs the three games he still has to serve." He said the experience and leadership of players like Reinhart is even more important on a team that has three "underage" players in camp -- 16-year-old phenom Connor McDavid, as well as possibly the two top picks in the 2014 NHL draft in defenceman Aaron Ekblad and Reinharts younger brother Sam. There are three cuts still to be made -- five if Monahan and Rielly join the squad -- and it is uncertain if the three youngsters will make it. Sutter is high on all three, but there is only room for two goalies, seven defencemen and 13 forwards. McDavid said hes ready to accept any role, if it means making the team. "Theres a little pressure I guess, being that I am 16, but I dont think they would have brought me here if they thought that was going to be a big deal," he said. "So I just try to put it out of my head and focus on the task at hand." Sutter set no timetable for the cuts, which could come at the end of the camp but may come after the first exhibition game in Sweden. They hope to have their 22-man squad set at least for the last two pre-tournament games. The deadline to declare rosters is Dec. 25. Bo Jackson Youth Jersey . EDMONTON -- Grant Shaws season is over. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jersey . The Edmonton Eskimos announced Sunday the kicker-punter suffered a season-ending torn pectoral muscle in the clubs 28-13 loss Monday to the Calgary Stampeders. The Eskimos said Shaw underwent successful surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. The six-foot-three, 225-pound Edmonton native is in his fifth CFL season, third with the Eskimos. Shaw made 23-of-27 field goal attempts this season and averaged 44.0 yards per punt and 62.3 yards on kickoffs. Jason Smith Jersey . LOUIS -- Alexander Steen scored a power-play goal with 59. The Cavaliers first-year forward will miss at least three weeks with a strained left knee, the latest setback for the No.Fourteen months after narrowly avoiding the death penalty Penn State is back in the game. The NCAA announced it will gradually restore the scholarships taken from the football program starting next season. Still to come could be an announcement that the four-year post-season ban may be lifted as well. The cap on scholarships was set to begin in 2014 and has been drastically reduced. Instead of spending three years with 20 less scholarship players the school will now be allowed 75 in 2014, 80 in 2015 and the full allotment of 85 in 2016. The original sanctions were handed down 14 months ago by NCAA President Mark Emmert. In the heat of the moment, the NCAA over stepped their bounds. In trying to avoid the dreaded death penalty, Penn State signed off on a punishment that was misguided and out of the NCAAs jurisdiction all together. When Jerry Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of sexual abuse, there were many who deserved to be punished. He was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison. Had the late Joe Paterno not passed away, he surely would have been part of the investigation along with other high ranking officials accused of covering up Sanduskys wrong-doings. The institution itself was fined $60 million and that has not been reduced. But the truth is, none of the guilty parties still roam State College. The admission by the NCAA that it took out its frustration on the wrong individuals is a welcome one. Coach Bill OBrien and his players have done nothing wrong and deserve the good news delivered Tuesday. Their star freshman QB Christian Hackenberg committed to play at the school despite the penalties and OBrien himself took the position knowing trying times were ahead. The coaches and players like Hackenberg deserve to avoid punishment in this mess, being that they had nothing to do with it. Nothing will ever change the terrible events that occurred on the Penn State campus, but allowing a new group of student-athletes and coaches their chance to put the pieces back together for a once storied football program was the right decision by the NCAA. The ruling allows 45 more students sitting in high school classrooms across America will eventually sign letters of intent to not only play football at Penn State, but to earn an education they may otherwise neveer have gotten. Wesley Matthews Bucks Jersey. Its not often that pundits say the NCAA gets it right and this time they nailed it. Other notes from around the NCAA: - Teddy Bridgewater became the first FBS QB to throw for 4 TD in three games this season. Hes in line to be the top overall pick in next years NFL draft – but its a shame his Louisville Cardinals dont play a single tough game this season. Even if undefeated, they have little chance of making the national title game because of their cream puff schedule. - Florida State beat lowly Bethune-Cookman by 48 points. The impressive part was their defence won the game 8-6, they didnt need the extra 46 points from Jameis Winston and the Noles offence. -Ohio State backup QB Kenny Guiton got another start on Saturday against Florida A&M – he promptly broke the school record with 6 touchdown passes. He achieved the feat part way through the second quarter. The Buckeyes did not throw a single pass in the 2nd half of their 76-0 win. - UCLA showed a lot of class in their first home game since the passing of WR Nick Pasquale. The team ran their first play with only 10 men on the field, Pasquale was their 11th man. Bruins players came to the game wearing t-shirts with his number 36 on them, and fans were given towels with the number as well. The team also held a sign that said "thank you Nebraska". When hosting UCLA last weekend, the fans in Nebraska showed class last week releasing 200 blue and gold balloons as a tribute. - Clemson WR Martavis Bryant will be disciplined by Coach Dabo Swiney for a throat-slash gesture after scoring a TD. Last week it was TJ Yeldon forced to sit a quarter for mocking Johnny Manziel with his celebration. It seems like after every tackle, first down or TD these days we need to watch a show from some player craving the spotlight. What happened to handing the ball back to the official and getting back to the line of scrimmage? Good on the coaches for trying to put a stop to it all. - Anyone worried about how Wisconsin would run the ball without Monte Ball can be at ease – the Badgers have two players in the top 10 in rushing yards. Melvin Gordon leads the nation and James White is right there with him, theyve combined for over 1,000 yards in four games. ' ' '

So the Suns 100-94 victory over Boston Wednesday night was an uphill affair, with Phoenix relying on balance rather than its trademark high energy. SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Blake Costanzo had been keeping busy re-tiling his bathroom back home in New Jersey and doing regular yard work. He remained optimistic he would land himself a job, even as free agency lingered into its fourth month. The linebacker and special teams standout rejoined the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, signing 2 1/2 years after leaving the organization to play for the Chicago Bears. He signed a one-year contract for the veteran minimum of $855,000 for players with seven to nine years of experience. "The biggest thing is this stadium right behind here," Costanzo said of what has changed, looking toward $1.2 billion Levis Stadium. "There are a lot of new faces, but there are also a lot of guys I played with. Its a good opportunity to come out here and play some football again. I was doing too much yard work at home." The 30-year-old Costanzo played 16 games for Chicago last season and finished with nine tackles and a forced fumble while also contributing on special teams. After flying cross country Monday, Costanzo participated in Tuesdays organized team activity, and was one of the last players to return to the locker room after a session in the weight room. He said he spoke to a couple of other teams, but "the timing was right here." "This was a good opportunity for me to come here, compete and maybe help some younger guys they have on the roster," Costanzo said. "My only competition is myself. Im going to try to find a way, whatever it may be." Costanzo is also learning some new aspects of the playbook from special teams coach Brad Seely, who also coached him in Cleveland and brought him to the Bay Area for the turnaround 2011 season, coach Jim Harbaughs first year. "Blake was here with us a few years ago. Hes a great guy -- a guy who comes to work every day and a great team player," linebacker Patrick Willis said. "The guy is going to go out there on game day -- or even practice -- and gives it everything hes got. Were very fortunate to have a guy like that on our special teams. We lost some guys who had been some key special teams players forr us, so to add Blake back is really going to help us out big time. Adidas Boty Pánské Nmd. " San Francisco will count on the depth at linebacker that Costanzo helps provide given All-Pro NaVorro Bowman is recovering from a left knee injury sustained in the NFC championship game. Bowman could miss at least half the season. In addition, linebacker Aldon Smith might face a multiple-game suspension from the NFL for his off-field legal issues over the past two years. Last month, Smith pleaded no contest to three felony weapons charges and two misdemeanour counts of driving under the influence. He faces a sentence ranging from spending no time in custody to a maximum of four years and four months in jail. Smith is scheduled to be sentenced July 25, two days after the 49ers open training camp in Santa Clara. He left the facility Tuesday offering a thumbs-up. "For us, its not something we worry about. Hes out here working. Hes practicing every day," Willis said. "Hes working out every day. Hes been a great teammate. Thats our focus right now: worrying about the present. When that time comes, whatever is decided, thats what it will be. Well have to get better as a football team. If hes not out there, then as with last year, some of the guys will have to step into his place and play big time." Nose tackle Ian Williams believes he will be full strength or close to it by the start of training camp next month. A first-year starter, Williams 2013 season ended with a broken leg and torn ligaments in his left ankle in Week 2 at Seattle. He has had four surgeries since, the most recent in February to have a metal plate removed. "It took a lot out of me," Williams said. "Things happen for a reason. Im back, though, Im back." NOTES: Not on the field during team drills Tuesday: WRs Stevie Johnson, Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, TE Vernon Davis and RG Alex Boone. The teams mandatory minicamp is June 17-19. ... New T Jonathan Martin worked out on the side and in the weight room as he recovers from mononucleosis. ... The Niners waived guard Al Netter on Tuesday. ' ' '
